日本の給料は高くないの？ Isn't it true income in Japan is higher? No!
これは海外在住者に限っての主観的な感想です。
海外で現地就職をして何年か働いた後、家庭の事情や、現地での経済状況、または健康状態で日本へ戻ることがあった場合、果たして自分は働けるのか、という話を最近していました。
香港人の友人とこのtopicになると、開口一番、「日本での給与は高いんじゃない？（なんで帰らないの？）」
これは本当に誤解というか、間違いというか、酷い言いがかりです。私の知る限り、香港で普通のOLをやっている女性の場合、日本で働く方が良かった、と言う人は見当たりませんでした。皆口をそろえて「楽だ」というのです。化粧しなくていいし、服装は比較的自由で、夏場はストッキング履かなくても大丈夫……だからでしょうね。
しかしここで言いたいのは、単純に待遇や条件です。日本の非正規雇用（パート、バイト、契約や派遣社員）の女性社員の給与はわずか158万円（年収）です。公式調査結果は下のリンクをご参照ください。
女性に正規従業員の年収は377.6万円ですが、これは新卒で勤め続けている23歳から59歳までのデータが主力だと思います。何しろ、女性の非正規は56.6％ですので、正規従業員は半数に満たない状況です。
海外生活をある程度の期間こなして、日本に戻るとなると、まずは非正規雇用を覚悟しなければならないでしょう。日本で40代や50代以上の求人があるかはともかく、パートやバイト、派遣といった職に就くのはほぼ決まりではないでしょうか。となると、ボーナスがないため月収は単純計算で約13万円です。これを香港ドルにすると、約10,100ドルです。（まあ私の香港での初任給よりはギリギリ高いです。苦笑）。
通勤手当もなく、社会保険も自費、現実有休もない（通常2か月など6か月未満で更新）、健康診断も自費となると、手取りはさらに少なくなりますよね。40代から70代の非正規雇用者のアンケ―トでは、手取りは8万円から12万円という結果もあるくらいです。香港ドルなら1万ドル以下なのです。
こうやって数字を出してようやく納得してもらいましたが、しかしこの給与格差、我々ベビーブーマーがこの世から去るまでは改善することはないのでしょうかね。なかなか厳しい現況だと思いますし、自分は海外就職できて本当にラッキーだったな、と思うのでした。

The annual salary of regular employees for women is 3,776,000 yen, but I beleive this is mainly for data from the age of 23 to 59 who continue to work since a fresh graduate. After all, 56.6% of women are non-regular, so less than half of them are regular employees.
If you have been living abroad for some time and will return to Japan, most likely you will get a non-regular employment only. It also is very difficult to find a job in Japan in 40's or 50's, but anyway, you have no choice but to get a job such as part-time, part-time job, or contract. In that case, there is no bonus and monthly income could be around 130,000 yen. This is only HKD10,100. (Well it's better than my first salary in Hong Kong though).
There is no transportation allowance, social insurance paid at your own expense only, there is no annual leave, and you also must pay for medical examination. In a questionnaire for non-regular employees in their 40s to 70s, received salary can range from 80,000 yen to 120,000 yen. It means less than HKD10,000/month.
